"It is from need and distress that new forms of life take their rise, and not from mere wishes or from the requirements of our ideals.”
Carl G. Jung, Modern Man in Search of a Soul
We live in a world that is quick to diagnose, fix, medicate, and silence. My approach to therapy treats nagging or disruptive behaviors or thoughts as communications of the psyche or unborn potentials of one’s personality. I approach areas of personal distress and discomfort as one's unique path toward wholeness and integration.
The work I offer differs from cognitive behavioral therapy in that I not only look at images and experiences in your life and dreams reductively as if pointing toward a particular cause or proposing a definitive way forward. Rather, I treat dreams and experiences as direct communications from psyche pointing toward unexamined or left out parts of Self seeking new relationship.
The path toward healing includes all aspects of being: psychological, physical, social, emotional, mental, and spiritual. There are no parts of one’s identity or being that are disallowed in this work. When space is created, internally and externally, for one’s whole self, more space is created for authentically living with others in the world.
It is my view that the work of consciousness is a work of social justice.
